Bonus Vlog: Fixing My DIY Mistake | Water-Based vs. Oil-Based Sealers | How to Repaint After Sealing

In this bonus vlog, I’m sharing how I fixed a big DIY mistake—using oil-based sealer instead of water-based on my IKEA Billy Bookcase makeover. If you’ve ever accidentally used oil-based sealer and are wondering how to correct it, this video is for you!

I’ll walk you through the key differences between oil-based and water-based sealers, how to repaint over an oil-based sealer, and the steps I took to seal the new paint with a water-based sealer. This project was part of a larger custom library wall build, and while this setback was frustrating, it taught me valuable lessons I’m excited to share with you.

Stay tuned for the full makeover reveal later this week, where you’ll see the final result of this Billy Bookcase transformation with both open and closed storage!
